Prepare yourself for a new level of luxury, because the Mercedes-Maybach EQS 680 SUV is set to make its debut next month. Although the automaker has released a teaser image, it is less revealing than the recent spy shots that have been circulating. However, while the design is not a complete mystery, the details both inside and out are, and we will have to wait until the official unveiling on April 17 at Auto Shanghai in China to learn more.

The teaser image showcases a broad and stately electric SUV, covered by a sheet so thin that you can see the chrome trim around the greenhouse. Despite Mercedes attempting to conceal the SUV’s design, we already know that it will look similar to the non-Maybach EQS SUV, but with unique features that set it apart.

We can expect the Maybach-branded EQS SUV to share styling cues with other luxurious Mercedes models, including vertical slats on the lower bumper opening, similar to the grilles on the Maybach S-Class and GLS. Recent spy shots also showed the SUV with a hood ornament, which is not visible on the vehicle in the teaser image.

While the exterior of the Maybach EQS SUV will certainly look impressive, it is the interior that will truly shine. Mercedes is expected to use only the best materials and the latest technology, and there may only be two seats in the second row to maximize comfort.

Although we don’t know the specific powertrain details, the name suggests that it might have more power than the EQS 580 SUV. This EV features a dual-motor, all-wheel-drive setup that produces 536 horsepower and 633 pound-feet of torque, allowing it to reach 60 miles per hour in just 4.6 seconds. It has a range of 285 miles with its 107.8-kilowatt-hour battery, and we can expect the Maybach variant to offer similar performance figures, regardless of its numerical designation.
