The Ultimate Overland Vehicle 2023, showcased at the Overland Expo West in Flagstaff, Arizona, introduces an extraordinary combination of the modified 2022 Lexus LX 600 and the Off Grid Trailers Pando 2.0. This collaboration presents a range of groundbreaking overland features for full-size vehicles, making it the most extensively modified Lexus LX 600 to date.

Crafted by Mule Expedition Outfitters, the Ultimate Overland Vehicle incorporates both new and existing components from renowned brands such as CBI Offroad, Goose Gear, MagnaFlow, Prinsu, Radflo, and Total Chaos. These components will be made available to LX 600 owners, allowing them to create their own dream overlander. However, if the luxurious Lexus LX 600 is beyond your budget, alternative options should be considered.

According to Jessica Kirchner, Senior Vice President of Marketing at Emerald Consumer Events, the Ultimate Overland Vehicle 2023 was designed to accommodate a family of four for extended journeys into remote terrains, enabling them to stay there comfortably for a week or more. While the LX 600 itself is capable of supporting extensive overland trips, the addition of the Pando 2.0 trailer expands the possibilities by providing a basecamp and extending the journey’s duration.

The LX 600 was chosen as the base vehicle due to its exceptional attributes. It offers a blend of luxury, power, spaciousness, safety, and impressive off-road capabilities with its full-time four-wheel-drive system. The Off Grid Trailers Pando 2.0 complements the LX 600’s features with its 24 inches of ground clearance, eight inches of wheel travel, a queen-size bed, air-conditioning, 33 gallons of fresh water, a roof rack with a 1,000-pound capacity, and even a slide-out pizza oven. These are just a few of the notable highlights.

The LX 600 enhancements include an ARB Summit MKII front bumper equipped with a winch and the Midland Radio Bull Bar Antenna to maximize the range of the Midland’s MXT-575 GMRS radio. Prinsu contributes their first-ever roof rack designed specifically for the LX 600, while Total Chaos and Radflo provide upgraded suspension components, including shocks, coilovers, upper and lower control arms, and links. These modifications result in a 2.5-inch increase in ride height and improved wheel travel, allowing for the installation of 33-inch Kenda Klever R/T tires on 17-inch satin black wheels from Icon Dynamics.

At the rear, the CBI Offroad dual swing-out bumper accommodates a full-size spare tire, traction boards, and a five-gallon jerry can. Inside the trunk, the Goose Gear Ultimate Chef Package for the LX 600 houses a Dometic CFX3 45 fridge and an auxiliary power management system. Additional essential overland equipment includes an Off-Road Tool Bag with Tool Roll, a Forrest Tool’s recovery kit, and a shovel. For emergencies, a Self-Reliance Medical OTK 1450 First-Aid Kit is also included.

To enhance the performance and sound of the Lexus’ twin-turbocharged 3.4-liter V6 engine, an all-new MagnaFlow Overland Series cat-back performance exhaust has been installed, designed exclusively for the LX 600. Even if you’re not an avid overlander, this option might be worth exploring to give your full-size SUV a touch of character.

After appearing at three more outdoor shows this year, the completed build will be auctioned on Bring a Trailer, with the entire proceeds going to the Overland Expo Foundation charity.
