Don’t be alarmed by the jargon. This small engine offers respectable power and (hopefully) fuel economy that won’t make you cry at the pump. It can vary its compression ratio as a chameleon changes colours. Although it has less horsepower (268 vs. 295 hp) than the previous V6, it has a lot more torque (286 lb-ft), so it will feel more responsive when you need to pass that minivan taking up the left lane.

It’s all familiar territory inside. Features include heated seats, a panoramic sunroof that opens up the inside like a luxury fishbowl, and a larger-than-life touchscreen that is presumably easier to use. The Black Edition bundle is the true highlight of this story. The Black Edition is what you would get if you dipped the standard QX60 in a vat of black paint. The outside is completely gloss black, and it has some amazing 20-inch wheels that shout, "Don’t mess with me, I haul groceries and kids with ninja-like efficiency."
