Depending on your location, Hyundai’s entry-level crossover could either be the Venue or the Bayon. However, you are getting an even smaller model - the Exter. This high-riding vehicle boasts a boxy shape and tough design cues like plastic cladding on the wheel arches and a silver front skid plate. Its exclusive Ranger Khaki color is contrasted by a black finish for the upper body, including the roof rails.

The Exter is expected to be less than four meters long, making it smaller than the Venue. Official images reveal H-shaped LED daytime running lights and square headlights on either side of the main grille. The model’s name is spelled out on the front bumper, below the black trim piece connecting the DRLs, which is an unusual touch.

While the back of the Exter is not visible in the images released so far, there seems to be a textured rear pillar and a prominent crease that rises from the side skirts and meets the corner of the taillights. The A-segment crossover rides on two-tone alloy wheels and appears to have a generous greenhouse for its size.

Hyundai has announced that the 2024 Exter will come with a 1.2-liter gasoline engine that can be paired with a five-speed manual or an automated manual. There will also be an option for a different 1.2-liter engine compatible with compressed natural gas (CNG) and linked to a five-speed manual. The Exter will be available in five trim levels - EX, S, SX, SX(O), and SX(O) Connect - when it goes on sale in the latter half of the year.
