What's New for Volkswagen in Vietnam - 2027?
The big tale for Volkswagen in 2027 is quite simple: more electric powered cars, a brand new generation of familiar nameplates and a serious attempt to make EVs experience less expensive and more like regular automobiles people simply want to buy.
VW has been busy remaking its lineup, and 2027 should see a number of the maximum thrilling. The all-electric powered ID Tiguan will arrive in early 2027, while the ID.Three GTI is about to take the mythical GTI badge into the electrical age. There’s additionally a new era of electrical compact automobiles which are designed to make EV ownership inexpensive.
And no, Volkswagen has not suddenly decided that tomorrow everyone will have to drive an electric car. Gasoline, diesel and hybrid will all continue to be useful, depending on the market.
You can expect:
New-generation Volkswagen electric cars
An all-electric ID. Tiguan SUV
The arrival of the ID.3 GTI
More affordable compact EVs
Updated petrol, diesel and hybrid models
New interiors and improved infotainment systems
More advanced driver-assistance technology
Fresh designs for popular SUVs and family cars
More software-focused vehicle technology
The big challenge for VW is making all this technology affordable without turning its cars into rolling touchscreens with a steering wheel attached. After a few years of questionable interface decisions, that's a challenge worth watching.
2027 Volkswagen Electric Cars in Vietnam
Volkswagen's electric lineup is getting a serious makeover, and 2027 should be an important year for the ID family.
The company is dropping the original idea that every electric Volkswagen needs to look like a futuristic concept car. Instead, it’s bringing familiar names and more traditional designs to the EV world. That's totally understandable, honestly. Not all people want their daily driver to look like it ran away from a sci-fi movie.
Volkswagen ID is one of the most important new cars all-electric Tiguan SUV to be launched in early 2027. It will replace the ID.4 and ID.5 in Volkswagen's European lineup and will be offered alongside the gas-powered Tiguan. The new electric SUV from Volkswagen will get a facelift, a nicer interior and a different layout for the controls, the company says.
Volkswagen's upcoming electric lineup includes:
ID. Tiguan – a new electric family SUV
ID.3 GTI – a performance-focused electric hatchback
ID. Polo – a compact EV aimed at everyday driving
ID. Cross – a smaller electric crossover
ID.4 successor – a redesigned electric SUV offering
ID. EVERY1 – an affordable entry-level EV planned for 2027
The thinking behind this new lineup is pretty simple: give shoppers more electric options, from small metropolis cars to family-sized SUVs, without asking them to pay luxurious-vehicle money for the privilege.
The Volkswagen ID.3 GTI Is Coming in 2027
Here's the one enthusiasts should be paying attention to.
For five decades, the GTI badge has adorned small, quick VWs that are fun without costing a second mortgage. Now VW is taking that formula into the electric age with the ID.3 GTI.
Volkswagen has announced an electric motor with rear-wheel drive that produces 240 kW (326 PS) and 545 Nm of torque. That is a lot of power for such a small hatchback. The company has also claimed the range could be as much as 601 km in the conditions it says it tested it in. Sales will start early in 2027 for early birds.
Of course, a hot hatch with this much power isn't always a good one. How the car rides on twisting roads, how the brakes feel, how the steering feels – these are all still important. An electric GTI is more than just a battery-powered drag racer.
What makes the ID.3 GTI interesting?
326 PS of electric power
545 Nm of torque
Rear-wheel-drive layout
Quick electric acceleration
A claimed range of up to 601 km
Sporty GTI styling and driving character
Everyday hatchback practicality
The important question is whether Volkswagen can deliver the playful, tossable character that made the original GTI such a big deal.
If it can, the ID.3 GTI could be one of the more interesting electric performance cars to watch in 2027. If it can't, it'll just be another quick EV with a famous badge.
New Volkswagen SUVs in Vietnam for 2027
Volkswagen knows where the money is, and that’s increasingly in SUVs.
The company keeps refreshing the vehicles people actually buy, from small crossovers to three-row family haulers. The electric I.D Tiguan is a part of that strategy but conventional SUVs aren’t going anywhere just yet.
What to watch for:
New electric family SUVs
Updated petrol-powered SUVs
More spacious and practical interiors
Improved infotainment systems
Better driver-assistance features
More premium cabin materials
Updated styling and lighting
Different powertrain choices depending on the market
The ID. Tiguan and the conventional Tiguan will also serve different buyers. One is aimed at people ready to go fully electric, while the other continues to offer familiar combustion and hybrid powertrains.
For shoppers, that's a useful distinction. You can pick your chosen powertrain without necessarily giving up the general shape and practicality of the automobile you need.
New Volkswagen Technology Coming in 2027
Volkswagen’s next generation of cars is about more than new sheet metal and different powertrains. The company is also working to make the technology people use every single day better.
That means better infotainment, more capable driving structures, refreshed virtual cockpits and higher integration of automobile software programs and hardware.
The cabin experience deserves a special mention. Not the big screens are always an improvement, so yes the direction of its newer models suggests more-focused clearer layouts, easier controls and an even polished overall experience.
Technology to look out for:
Updated digital instrument displays
Improved infotainment systems
More intuitive cabin controls
Advanced driver-assistance systems
Connected vehicle features
Improved parking assistance
More sophisticated electronic architecture
Software-based vehicle functions
Volkswagen is also working with Rivian on software and electrical architecture for future vehicles. The collaboration is intended to help the group develop more modern vehicle electronics and software-defined vehicle capabilities. Some of the resulting technology is expected to appear in future models, but not every planned feature should be assumed to arrive in every 2027 Volkswagen.
The goal is to make cars that work better over time, rather than simply adding another menu to the touchscreen every time a new model launches.
Volkswagen's Affordable Electric Cars in Vietnam
Affordable EVs are one of the biggest pieces of Volkswagen's future, and this is where the company's 2027 plans get particularly interesting.
The ID Polo and ID Cross are part of a new family of compact electric vehicles developed around shared technology. The idea is to spread development costs across multiple models while offering buyers different body styles and personalities.
VW also announced plans for the ID. EVERY1, a budget electric car slated for production in 2027. It was originally intended to be a small, affordable EV with a target starting price of around €20,000 in Europe. But that's a target announced for its intended European positioning, not a confirmed price for all markets.
Why affordable EVs matter:
Lower entry prices than larger electric cars
Easier urban driving and parking
Reduced reliance on petrol
Lower routine energy costs where electricity is affordable
More choices for first-time EV buyers
Compact dimensions for crowded cities
Access to modern technology without buying a luxury car
Of course, sticker price is only part of the story. Charging access, battery range, replacement costs and local electricity prices are among the factors that will decide whether an EV makes financial sense.
For emerging markets with developing charging infrastructure, a small electric car could be attractive but not the most convenient choice for all. And it’s still essential for Volkswagen’s ability to offer practical alternatives to its EVs.
Smarter Volkswagen Cars in Vietnam for 2027
Modern cars are becoming computers on wheels, whether drivers asked for that or not.
Volkswagen is working toward more integrated electronic systems and software-defined vehicles, where software has a bigger role in controlling vehicle functions and delivering new capabilities.
The collaboration with Rivian is one part of this effort. Volkswagen Group has also identified advanced driver assistance, connected technology and improved software architecture as important areas for its future lineup.
What this could mean for drivers:
More capable driver-assistance systems
Improved integration between vehicle systems
Better connected-car features
More responsive infotainment
Potential software updates for supported functions
More consistent digital experiences across models
That does not mean every Volkswagen is going to begin driving itself or get huge new capabilities with an update. Availability will rely upon the version, hardware, market guidelines and the software program that Volkswagen honestly releases.
The real prize is technology that makes driving easier without requiring the driver’s undivided attention.
Volkswagen Design Changes for 2027
Traditionally, Volkswagen has taken a surprisingly secure technique to styling. The Golf shouldn't look significantly different each few years, and neither does the Tiguan.
Yet its subsequent generation of electric motors hints at an extra cohesive design language, marrying familiar Volkswagen proportions to cleanser bodywork and up to date lighting fixtures.
The ID. Tiguan, as an instance, is supposed to present the electric SUV a more substantial, upscale look. The ID. Polo and ID. Cross take a exclusive method, using compact dimensions and more traditional styling to make electric powered automobiles sense much less intimidating to shoppers.
Expect to see:
Cleaner exterior styling
Updated LED lighting
More recognisable Volkswagen design cues
New electric-specific body designs
More carefully packaged interiors
Better use of cabin space
Updated digital instrument panels
The goal isn't necessarily to make every Volkswagen appearance futuristic. It's to make the electric models feel like proper participants of the family instead of a separate test.
And that's probably the right move. Familiarity can be a selling point when you're asking people to change how they fuel and use their cars.
