Latest Update: Mitsubishi Triton Black Edition unveiled in July 2024, may cost around $30,000.

Once more, Mitsubishi has done it. The Triton is a perfectly good pickup truck that has been transformed into a wannabe muscle car. What was the outcome? A truck that is about as practical for climbing a mountain as a pair of Crocs.

Let’s discuss this ridiculous "Black Edition" stuff. It would be equivalent to labelling a Camry a stealth fighter after wrapping it in black vinyl. Although it appears sombre and gloomy, it’s really only a cosmetic makeover. Have you noticed the black wheels, that is? They are nearly undetectable because they are so dark. What about that black grille? Mitsubishi seemed to be attempting to disappear into the darkness.

The really shocking thing is that they did away with all-wheel drive. drive all four wheels! within a truck. Comparable to giving a fish a bicycle. What good is a truck if it can’t manage anything more difficult than a wet parking lot? Mitsubishi is obviously going after a very particular market: those who believe a truck is merely a piece of apparel.

Not that there isn’t a market for this product. Many bro-dudes believe that the ultimate achievement in cars is a lowered truck with large wheels. However, the Triton Black Edition is merely a depressing car for everyone else. It has no substance at all, much like a peacock.
