Volkswagen paves the way with its retro-inspired ID. GTI Concept, unveiled at the IAA Mobility 2023. This concept vehicle aims to bridge a remarkable 48-year history of combustion-powered GTI models with Volkswagen’s bold electric future.

If the striking red car on display feels familiar, that’s because it draws inspiration from the VW ID. 2all Concept, which made its debut earlier this year. This connection is no mere coincidence – Volkswagen’s designers deliberately channeled the spirit of the GTI while crafting the ID. 2all Concept, resulting in a striking resemblance. The ID. GTI Concept showcases many of the same distinctive features, accentuated by a tasteful combination of black and red accents. Sportier front and rear fascias, wheels reminiscent of the Mk1 GTI, darker taillights, a sleek hatch-mounted wing, and a grille adorned with black and red trim are just a few of the design elements that pay homage to the GTI legacy.
