The Peugeot 508, which is unquestionably one of the most attractive automobiles outside of the luxury segment, is getting a comprehensive update that includes interior and exterior modifications. The lion badge and corporate grille have been redesigned, and the headlights on the wagon and midsize sedan have been slimmed down. The sleeker lights, which use matrix LED technology, combine the recognizable three-claw design of the daytime running lights into a single piece.

The same three-claw design is given a new twist by the full-LED taillights, which are located in the back. Three new colors—Okenite White, Titanium Grey, and Eclipse Blue—as well as three trim levels—Allure, GT, and Peugeot Sport Engineered—and a variety of alloy wheel designs in sizes ranging from 17 to 20 inches—will be available to customers. Michelin Pilot Sport 4S tires are installed by the French manufacturer on the flagship PSE model.

The 2023 508 Sedan and SW share an updated 10-inch infotainment system inside, as well as a redesigned gear selector for the eight-speed automatic transmission that is standard across the range. There are a few driving modes (Electric, Eco, Hybrid, Normal, Sport, and 4WD) and suspension settings (Normal, Sport, and Comfort) that vary by engine. A 12-inch, all-digital instrument cluster is concealed behind the small steering wheel.

The heated windscreen, electric trunk/tailgate, night vision system, and adaptive cruise control with stop-and-go function are just a few of the nice features included. In addition, Peugeot equips the 508 with parking high-definition cameras, road sign recognition, and active lane departure warning with lane correction. Additionally, there is a high-end Focal sound system with ten speakers and a subwoofer.

In terms of engines, the lineup begins with a 130-horsepower three-cylinder, 1.2-liter turbocharged gasoline unit. The Peugeot 508 is also equipped with a larger four-cylinder, 1.6-liter engine that produces 218 horsepower for Asia, Africa, and the Middle East. Customers can also opt for the 130 horsepower, four-cylinder, 1.5-liter turbodiesel.

A 150-hp or 180-hp gasoline engine is combined with an 81-kilowatt electric motor in two-wheel-drive versions of two plug-in hybrid powertrains that produce 180 hp and 225 hp, respectively. When you upgrade to the 508 PSE, you get a gasoline engine with 200 horsepower, an 81 kW motor connected to the automatic transmission, and an 83 kW motor in the back. These deliver 360 horsepower to both axles when combined.

The three PHEV models each have a 12.4-kWh battery pack that can be charged with a standard charger of 3.7 kW or an optional charger of 7.4 kW, which is standard on the flagship PSE.
