The upcoming 2028 BMW X2 M40 gives BMW’s smallest sporty SUV a clean, futuristic new look. It replaces the older M35i version name with the M40 badge and gives BMW the opportunity to fashion a modern layout. Up front, the big old grille is long gone, replaced with the help of a taller, narrower "twin kidney" grille and neat new headlights. On the side, it sits on large 20-inch wheels with shiny blue brake calipers, while the return gets subtly redesigned taillights and an adjustable rear suspension

Inside, the biggest upgrade is a large futuristic panel called Panoramic iDrive, which spreads all sorts of things on the lower part of the windshield, alongside a large 17.9-inch touchscreen in the center. Under the hood, an upgraded model of a modern 2.0-liter turbocharged 4-cylinder engine can be used, making 312 horsepower and going from 0 to 60 mph in 5.2 seconds with an all-wheel-drive quick 7-speed computerized transmission.
