Renault just did something kinda weird. Remember the Koleos? That cute little SUV that shared its platform with a Nissan? Yeah, well, it’s gone. Instead, we’ve got the Renault Grand Koleos, and let me tell you, it’s a whole different animal.

This new Koleos on steroids showed up at the Busan Motor Show in South Korea, rocking a partnership between Renault and Geely, the Chinese car company that owns, like, half the cool car brands these days. Here’s the thing: the Grand Koleos isn’t exactly some brand new design. It’s basically a Geely Xingyue L with a fake French mustache glued on.

But hey, don’t knock it till you try it, right? Renault slapped their fancy grille on the front and tweaked the body panels to make it look a little less, well, Chinese. Still a mid-size SUV, but way bigger than the old Koleos. Think Kia Sorento or Mazda CX-8 territory. Oddly enough, it only has five seats, but Renault promises enough legroom in the back to stretch out like a limo and a trunk that could swallow a small elephant with room for snacks.

Speaking of power, the Grand Koleos gets a hybrid option for the first time ever. Specs are still under wraps, but hey, at least it’ll sip on gas compared to the old Koleos. Rumors rumble about a gasoline version too, maybe even with all-wheel drive. Sweet!
