Latest Update: Ford is working on next gen Edge, likely to arrive in 2023.
A brand-new Ford Edge was leaked in August. It is a significant departure from the current model, and it is uncertain whether it will replace the out-of-date Edge that is currently available in the United States. The crossover’s cold-weather testing in funky lower-body camouflage is captured in new spy photos.
The new crossover is significantly larger than the model sold in the United States with the same name. The Chinese Edge is 196.8 (5.0 meters) longer than the US model, which is 220 millimeters (0.8 inches) shorter. This results in a wheelbase that is 100 millimeters (3.9 inches) longer, allowing the model to accommodate five or seven passengers in two or three rows. Additionally, the new Edge is wider and taller than the US version.
The spilled data uncovered that the new Edge would get its power from a turbocharged 2.0-liter four-chamber motor that conveys 248 drive (185 kilowatts). Ford offers the Edge in the United States with two engine options: an EcoBoost four-cylinder for the majority of the lineup and an EcoBoost V6 for the ST.
The crossover’s lower body is hidden by the camouflage, but the new grille with its sleek headlights and full-width daytime running lights bar is still visible. The taillights are visible in the rear, but Ford conceals the model and make of the vehicle. The belt line styling at the C-pillar, which was clearly visible in the leaked images, is even attempted to be concealed by the camouflage.
The new Edge’s interior hasn’t been shown in any photos, but it should look like the Evos and redesigned Explorer. Both have a sleek center console, minimalist instrument panel, and a large screen that spans the entire dash.
