The 2024 GMC Acadia is a fresh face for the year 2024, seasoned General Motors enthusiasts may spot some familiar elements. Sharing its fundamental structure with the 2024 Chevrolet Traverse, which made its debut earlier in the year, the Acadia sports the same turbocharged 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine under its hood. This powerhouse delivers an impressive 328 horsepower and 326 pound-feet of torque across all Acadia trims. It’s the sole engine option available, whether you opt for front-wheel or all-wheel drive, all of which is expertly managed by an eight-speed automatic transmission. It’s worth noting that as of now, there’s no sign of electrification, be it in the form of a fully electric or hybrid variant.

The star of the show is undoubtedly the new engine, but the headline news, both figuratively and quite literally, revolves around the Acadia’s expanded dimensions. Stretching an additional 10.6 inches in length and standing 3.6 inches taller compared to the 2023 model, the Acadia now treads closely to the robust GMC Yukon in terms of size. Inside, this transformation translates to a substantial boost in space – an 80 percent increase in storage behind the third-row seat and a 36 percent expansion in the second row, as per GMC’s reports.

For those up front, a digital haven awaits, distinguishable from its Traverse sibling. The driver is greeted by an 11-inch diagonal display, accompanied by a commanding 15-inch portrait-oriented center touchscreen. This dynamic setup is standard across the entire Acadia lineup. Both screens offer customization options, although they’re not entirely digital. To maintain tactile control, steering wheel controls and a cluster of buttons below the central screen provide access to various vehicle functions.

In terms of technology, the 2024 GMC Acadia comes equipped with Google integration and its suite of apps, including navigation. Notably absent from GMC’s announcement, however, is any mention of Android Auto or Apple CarPlay. Earlier in 2023, GM announced plans to discontinue these popular features in its electric vehicle lineup, but it’s unclear whether this applies to combustion-powered vehicles like the new Acadia. We’ve reached out to GMC for clarification and will provide an update as soon as we receive a response.

Beyond the choice of tech interface, select 2024 Acadia trims offer Super Cruise with trailering assist and auto lane-change features. The vehicle boasts up to nine camera views and an impressive roster of 20 standard driver-assist and safety features. This includes innovations such as seat belt and rear seat reminders, traffic sign recognition, blind-spot monitoring, adaptive cruise control, automatic emergency braking, and much more.

The high-end AT4 and Denali trims make a triumphant return for 2024. The off-road-focused AT4 receives a suspension retuning and an extra inch of ground clearance, as well as an exclusive Active Torque Control AWD system. Not to be overlooked are the striking red tow hooks and a distinctive front fascia, among other rugged enhancements. On the other hand, the Denali version maintains its reputation as the epitome of luxury in the Acadia lineup. It flaunts new 22-inch wheels, Denali-exclusive exterior accents, laser-etched wood trim in the cabin, and an abundance of leather upholstery, all complemented by a panoramic sunroof. As the cherry on top, the Denali trim unlocks the immersive Bose 16-speaker stereo system, complete with cutting-edge noise-cancelling technology.
