Latest Update: 2025 Audi RS6 Avant is most likely to launch anytime in 2024.
Audi boldly asserts that amidst the current SUV craze, there’s still a rightful niche for a high-performance wagon. Depending on your location, you can indulge in the thrill today with the purchase of an RS4 or RS6 sporting an elongated roof. Alternatively, patience will reward you as these swift estate cars undergo updates, with the RS6 gearing up for a mid-cycle makeover, promising more than just a facelift.
While it may deceive with a familiar facade, the devil resides in the details. Subtle yet distinctive, vertical air intakes on the front fenders set apart the upcoming RS6 from its regular Avant counterpart. The front air intakes undergo a metamorphosis in shape, and the spoiler lip flaunts a refreshed aesthetic. The rear, too, displays a revamped diffuser flanked by three vertical fins and framed by dual oval exhaust tips.
The discerning eye may catch a glimpse of an Audi Sport decal adorning the rear doors, potentially extending onto the fenders with a red graphic reminiscent of the RS6 GTO concept unveiled in late 2020. Strikingly, the prototype borrows the chunky roof spoiler from the one-off super wagon, and the Audi Sport’s three-color motif appears mirrored on the front, evident in the exposed black section on the doors.
Dubbed tentatively as the RS6 GT, this zesty wagon boasts horizontal red reflectors above the exhaust tips, a departure from the vertical ones on the regular model. The prototype’s sizable wheels, even on winter tires, hint at an impressive stance, possibly lower to the ground than the RS6 Performance, though optical illusions may play a part.
Speculation arises about Audi Sport massaging the twin-turbo 4.0-liter V8 engine, potentially surpassing the current 621 horsepower and 625 pound-feet (850 Newton-meters) of the RS6 Performance. Audi Sport’s head, Sebastian Grams, tantalizes with hints of a "more extreme" and "even stronger" variant, promising a sharper driving experience.
The unveiling of this robust wagon, expected to be named RS6 GT, is anticipated in 2024, promising a potent blend of performance and style.
