The 2023 Nissan Murano should be a carryover model. The exterior design of the Murano hasn’t changed much since the current generation of the SUV came out in 2015. As a carryover model, the 2023 Murano should have the same overall exterior design as the current SUV that’s on sale. The current Murano has a curvy design, with flowing lines, sharp headlights, Nissan’s V-shape grille, angular taillights, and a floating roof design. On the inside, the current Murano has an aging interior design, but higher trims come well-equipped with premium materials. The dashboard has a sweeping V-shape design that flows naturally into the center console. The SUV has large analog controls that are easy to use, but age the SUV’s design. The 2023 Nissan Murano should have the same interior design as the current SUV that’s on sale. comfortable seating for five. The current generation has been around since 2015, which means it probably should have received a full redesign last year. But, as the Murano soldiered on unchanged last year, and with no hint of a new model in the works, we think Nissan will simply keep cranking out its aging SUV. With the impressive redesigns of the smaller Rogue, larger Pathfinder as well as the upcoming and similarly sized fully electric Ariya, the Murano not only feels dated but looks like it as well. The smaller Rogue now offers just as much legroom as the larger Murano as well as offering even more cargo capacity (go figure) as well as a more modern interior with a better tech interface. And on the larger side, the Pathfinder provides buyers with three rows of seating, an impressive towing capacity, and, like the Rogue, Nissan’s most up-to-date interior. As for the Ariya, it’s nearly the same size as the Murano, and though more expensive, it puts a much more modern foot forward for Nissan. The Murano is still a good value in its segment, but without a complete redesign, it will continue to lose more ground to a bevy of newer rivals that include the Hyundai Santa Fe, Honda Passport, and Toyota Venza. Nissan isn’t expected to make any changes to Murano’s tech features for 2023. The current SUV comes standard with an 8-inch touchscreen, six audio speakers, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, Bluetooth, four USB ports, and satellite radio. Available features include navigation and an 11-speaker Bose audio system. We expect the 2023 Murano to continue to come with a 3.5-liter V6 engine that makes 260 horsepower. The engine is paired with a continuously variable automatic transmission. Front-wheel drive is standard and all-wheel drive is available. Standard safety features for the 2023 Nissan Murano should include pedestrian detection, forward collision warning, forward and reverse automatic emergency braking, lane departure warning, lane-keeping assist, automatic high-beam assist, blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, and a driver attention monitor. Available safety features should include adaptive cruise control, traffic sign recognition, parking sensors, and a surround-view parking camera. As desperate as the Murano is for a full redesign, we don’t think Nissan is going to change much, if anything, for the 2023 model year. Other SUVs from Nissan, including the slightly smaller Rogue or the larger, three-row Pathfinder, offer newer technology and a fresh look. And if you’re looking to go electric, Nissan will have the Ariya SUV on sale by the end of this year. But if good value takes precedence over the latest and greatest, head down to your Nissan dealer and checks out the Murano.
