BYD, the prominent Chinese electric vehicle (EV) manufacturer dominating the world’s largest EV market, has once again raised the bar with the launch of updated versions of its flagship models, the Han sedan and Tang SUV. Dubbed as the "Glory Editions," these new models come with significant price reductions aimed at undercutting comparable gasoline-powered vehicles.

Offering four variants with different battery sizes and ranges, the Han EV Glory Edition boasts impressive CLTC range figures ranging from 314 to 444 miles. Additionally, the 379-mile model features an all-wheel-drive system, whereas the others are powered by a single motor driving the front wheels.

As for the Tang EV, the Champion Edition remains available, yet to receive updates. The DM-i (plug-in hybrid) Glory Edition focuses on efficiency and simplicity, available in four variants with identical battery and plug-in hybrid powertrain setups.

Both the Han and Tang models offer a wide range of electric and plug-in hybrid variants. The updated Glory Editions not only come with reduced prices but also feature enhanced comfort and driver-assist systems.

BYD, already a formidable player in the market, aims to further strengthen its position in its home market. With relentless sales growth, having surpassed 3 million electric and plug-in hybrid vehicles in 2023, the company aims to accelerate the industry’s transition away from fossil fuels by aggressively targeting gasoline-powered incumbents.

This move follows BYD’s successful price reduction strategy initiated last year with the introduction of its "Champion Edition" models. With a bold yet effective approach, BYD sets an ambitious sales target of 4 million units for 2024, indicating its determination to maintain its dominance in the EV market.
