A sneak peek at the wagon version, devoid of significant exterior camouflage, unveils a sleek design against the moody German weather. But here’s the twist – it’s not the anticipated A4 Avant.

In a strategic move announced earlier in 2023, Audi shook up its nomenclature, assigning odd numbers to combustion-powered vehicles and even numbers to their electric counterparts. Consequently, the A4’s successor will wear the A5 badge, signaling a shift in the naming landscape. The A6, on the other hand, is destined for the A7 family. The prototype we’re eyeing here is, in fact, the new A5 Avant, hinting at the intriguing future of the A4 and A6, now tethered to the realm of Battery Electric Vehicles (BEVs).

A glance at the prototype suggests Audi is adhering to an evolutionary design language for this new station wagon. The familiar hexagonal grille and sweptback headlights form the foundation of the front fascia, but the bumper showcases a more sculpted demeanor with vertical air intakes, reminiscent of the current RS4.
