Spy shots that have recently emerged show that the forthcoming 2028 BMW iX2 (an intermediate Life Cycle Impulse/LCI facelift) will adopt BMW’s futuristic Neue Klasse design language, despite being based on the existing FAAR platform. The revamped electric crossover sports a decidedly sleeker face up front, with a slim dual-kidney grille, redesigned LED headlights with V-shaped turn signals and a reworked front bumper. The coupe-like silhouette and overall rear proportions are much the same, but the taillights receive new internal LED light graphics.

Inside, the iX2 receives a major digital update highlighted by BMW’s iDrive X system. This includes a large pillar-to-pillar Panoramic Vision display below the windshield and a big 17.9-inch central infotainment touchscreen. Under the skin, the powertrain setup is expected to remain unchanged from the current Gen5 EV architecture, with the single-motor eDrive20 (204 hp) and dual-motor xDrive30 (308 hp) variants continuing to be available with a 66.5 kWh battery pack. The refreshed iX2 is slated to enter production in mid-2027 at BMW’s Regensburg plant in Germany as a 2028 model-year car.
